Radiocarbon Analysis of Groundwater (RAG)
Applications: Useful for age dating of groundwater and for identifying influence of landfill gas and leachate on groundwater.
Sample size required: Generally 100 ml of water is adequate.
Analyses includes: Standard method involves acidificatioin of water to convert DIC to CO2, which is then extracted, purified, and submitted for final analysis by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS).
